Rihanna was told to cover up by a farmer who granted her permission to film her new music video in his field.
The singer, who was wearing a revealing bikini top, brought the area around the field in Bangor, County Down to a standstill yesterday (September 26).
DUP Alderman Alan Graham said he was going to fetch is tractor when he spotted what the singer was wearing.
"I thought it was inappropriate. I requested them to stop and they did," he told BBC News. "I had my conversation with Rihanna and I hope she understands where I'm coming from. We shook hands.”
Rihanna shoots her new music video 'We Found Love' in Northern Ireland.
Graham was asked if the field could be used for the video last week, but at the time he didn't know that it was for Rihanna – or who the singer even was.
"From my point of view, it was my land, I have an ethos and I felt it was inappropriate,” he said.
"I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God.”
Rihanna was filming the video for her new single 'We Found Love', which was produced by Calvin Harris.
