Lady Gaga performed as her male alter ego Joe Calderone as she played this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in Los Angeles.
The singer opened the ceremony at the Nokia Theatre with her performance of new single ‘You And I’.
Beginning the song at her piano, Lady Gaga then launched into the more up-tempo part of the track, which saw a surprise appearance from Queen’s Brian May on guitar.
May’s appearance came just two days after he played the Reading Festival with My Chemical Romance.
You can watch Lady Gaga’s performance of ‘You And I’ below.
Lady Gaga won two awards at the ceremony – Best Female Video and Best Video With A Message for ‘Born This Way’.
