Beyonce has revealed that she took a year out from music to protect her own mental health.
The singer, who released the follow-up to 2008’s 'I Am... Sasha Fierce' last month, said that her mum stepped in and told her to take a break from music for a while.
''I couldn't even tell which day or which city I was at. I would sit there at ceremonies and they would give me an award and I was just thinking about the next performance. My mother was very persistent and she kept saying that I had to take care of my mental health,'' Beyonce told The Sun.
She added: ''I got the chance to see the Jay-Z shows in the audience which I had never been able to do, so I was really inspired. I've always been a Jay-Z groupie.''
Meanwhile, Beyonce, Otis Redding and Mr Hudson are among the guest vocalists set to appear on Jay-Z and Kanye West's forthcoming joint album 'Watch The Throne'.
