Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have helped the record industry achieve positive growth for the first time in nearly eight years.
Overall US album sales rose 3.6 percent to 221.5 million in the first half of this year.
They were boosted by Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way', which ha so far sold 1.5m copies and Adele's '21', which has sold 2.5m copies since February, according to Neilson Soundscan.
Mumford & Sons have sold 982,000 copies of their debut album 'Sigh No More' so far this year, while Bruno Mars' 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans' has sold 686,000 copies.
The last time the record industry saw a positive sales climb was in 2004.
