The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger has revealed new details about SuperHeavy, his new supergroup with Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, A.R. Rahman and Damian Marley.
The group announced that their debut album is set for release on September 20.
Speaking at a showcase and conference yesterday (June 30) at the Jim Henson Studios, California, the group played the first half of the release before talking about their collaboration.
Jagger revealed how the group began with "ideas, a few guitar riffs and a few snippets of lyrics. It's not my usual sort of way of working. You always want to leave some room for improvisation, but you need to have something, some songs, when you walk into the studio.
"It evolved very quickly,” he continued. “We sat around with our little pads. We did do a lot of jams but it's all coherent and arranged. We just wrote them quickly."
Stewart also unveiled that the group recorded 29 songs over 10 days. "Some are an hour and 10 minutes long,” he said. “Some songs are 42 minutes long."
Although a full tracklisting is still to be announced, SuperHeavy did confirm that their first single will be called 'Miracle Worker'.
