The Game has given a televised apology after a Twitter prank resulted in a sheriff's office in Compton receiving phone calls from fans inquiring about an internship with the rapper.
Hundreds of fans called the office after a tweet emerged on The Game's Twitter feed advertising the internship and providing the rapper's 500,000 followers with a number to call.
During an appearance on CNN, The Game said: "It was a simple mishap.
“I was doing a photo shoot and it was downtown Los Angeles and one of my boys picked up my phone and started tweeting random numbers."
He continued: "I never want to be the source of anything happening wrong to anybody or anybody not being able to get through to the help lines at the police station.
"I don’t ever want to see anyone hurt. I’ve got kids at home. I’m not that guy."
The Game also offered his "sincerest apologies to the sheriff's department".
The Game's new album 'The R.E.D. Album' is out this month.
