Rihanna has thanked people who have criticised her new video ‘Man Down’.
The controversial video, released earlier this months, shows Rihanna shooting a man in the head who it is later revealed tried to sexually assault her.
It has come under fire from pressure groups in America, with The Parents Television Council calling it a “cold, calculated execution of murder”.
But in a series of messages on Twitter, Rihanna said the much-publicised reaction had helped deliver the video’s real message.
Rihanna wrote: “Man Down is the most viewed video on youtube this week! Special thx to PTC and #RihannaNavy.
“#ManDown this is why I FUX wit yall!!! RiRiLovers+RiriHaters...u all made this a success!!! And I truly thank u!”
She added: “I bring the clip to u, and u take over from there! And I love that u love them! And I love u guys even more...”
Rihanna is set to return to the UK later this year for a sold out tour, which includes a ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena.
