Noel Gallagher has been hailed as the new Sir Paul McCartney by Oasis' former manager.
Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, has heard demos of his forthcoming solo material and said it ranked alongside the Manchester group's early hits.
"I've heard the Noel demos. They're f*cking genius. For me, the guy's a McCartney, a Lennon, a Neil Young - he's one of the greats,” McGee told The Sun.
"When McCartney goes, it's Noel's crown really, isn't it?"
He added: "There's three songs on the demos - I won't go naming them cos I'm not his manager - but they're up there with 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and 'Live Forever'.
"He's f*cking done it again."
Last month, Gallagher said he had no plans to release any new songs until "well into next year".
Meanwhile, Gallagher welcomed the birth of his third child last Friday (October 1). Sonny is the guitarist's second baby with girlfriend Sara McDonald.
