Songs by Jay-Z and Lady Gaga have appeared in the opening episode to series two of Glee.
The episode, entitled Audition, saw members of the fictitious New Directions glee club travel to New York to compete in National finals.
Cast members performed Jay-Z’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ and Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ in the episode, which aired last night (September 21).
Music supervisor P.J. Bloom said they had chosen Jay-Z’s track because “we needed a New York song”.
Songs by Travie McCoy and Poison were also used in the opening episode.
The second episode in season two will feature a cameo appearance from Britney Spears. Coldplay and Sir Paul McCartney are also in talks to work with the show's producers.
