Green Day's hit Broadway musical American Idiot could be turned into a movie, it's been reported.
Playtone, the US production company owned by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are understood to be in talks to create a big screen adaptation of the production.
American Idiot uses Green Day's music to tell the story of the band's journey from their small town upbringing to stadium rock stars.
It has enjoyed huge success at Broadway's Roda Theatre, where it is due to run until April 20.
Hanks and Goetzman are keen to obtain the rights to the project before pitching it to a movie studio, according to Deadline.
Playtone were behind the film adaptation of ABBA musical Mamma Mia! in 2008.
The movie grossed $610 million worldwide, despite receiving lukewarm reviews from critics.
