Michael Jackson's Brother Jermaine Sings 'Smile' At Memorial Service
Michael Jackson's older brother, Jermaine, arguably provided one of the most heart-rending moments of the Staples Center ceremony when he sang a rousing rendition of 'Smile'.
The 54-year-old took to the stage shortly after Michael's close friend Brooke Shields read out the lyrics of the song to the 17,000 crowd.
Jermaine, wearing a solitary sequin glove like most of the Jackson family, fought back the tears as he delivered a powerful, emotion rendition of the classic song.
'Smile', one of Michael's favourite songs, was written by the legendary actor Charlie Chaplin for his 1936 movie 'Modern Times'.
Jermaine said in an interview earlier this week that he wishes he had died instead of his young brother.
He said on NBC's Today Show: “I don't know how people are going to take this, but I wish it was me."
