After a week of rumours about the band splitting after their drummer quit the band it has been confirmed in an official statement that Ikara Colt are to call it a day.
Rumours surfaced early last week that drummer Dominic Young had quit the band to pursue other interestest and that the other band members had decided it wouldn’t be worth continuing without him.
Bass player Tracy Bellaries has also been moonlighting with other bands.
The official statement reads:
“We are sad to announce that today Ikara Colt decided they would not be continuing. Speaking on the bands decision to split Paul Resende from Ikara Colt said:-
"Dear friends, just a quick note to say that the band will be splitting up as of now. We would all like to thank everyone that came to see us, supported us, heckled us. We produced two albums and countless singles and we always said that we would splilt up after five years and that five years is up, better to go out this way than to turn into some old, tired and jaded outfit. As we always said this was never a career choice or a lifestyle option and sadly most bands I see seemed to be for those reasons. Cheers once again, Thank you and good night."
Messages of dissapointment at the band's demise are being posted on the band's official message board.
