The nominations for this years Q Awards bash were announced last night and Amy Winehouse is set to do battle with the Arctic Monkey’s for the best album.

Winehouse failed to scoop the top prize at this years Mercury Awards and will be hoping to win the gong for her album ‘Back to Black’ to lift the troubled stars luck.

Mercury award winning Klaxons do not figure on the best album list but are up for best new act alongside number one selling artists The Enemy and Scotland’s The View.

With impressive performances at a host of summer festivals this year Kasabian are up for best live act but face tough competition from Muse, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.

After last years controversies including the Arctic Monkeys slagging off Take That and Liam Gallagher apparently visiting a Zoo to explain his absence from the event, it expected to be an equally entertaining night the Grosvenor Hotel in London on October 8.
