More about:

M(h)aol (pronounded "male") are a Dublin post-punk band making sure things in the Irish scene don't get too puffed up by testosterone. The largely non-male group are sharing 'Gender Studies' today and have announced their debut EP of the same name.

The short, grinding single comes with a film noir collage video underpinned by a grinding guitar line. It's true excellence from the Dublin five-piece which consists of Róisín Nic Ghearailt, Constance Keane, Jamie Hyland (of Girl Band), Zoe Greenway, and Sean Nolan.

On the EP, lead vocalist Róisín says, “Gender studies weaves past & present in an exploration of how the construct of gender shapes our lives. From feeling like you're not performing your gender right to the way it shapes how we move through the physical, sexual & romantic sphere it marries urgent lyrics with a threatening yet (blank) sound."
