More about:

"Gen Z Poet Laureate" Arlo Parks released her next single yesterday (24 October) on Transgressive and Beatnik. 'Sophie' is another emo soul bedroom pop song from the young Londoner and poet.

'Sophie' arrived with a tranquil, strikingly-colourised video directed by Molly Burdett: a lovely, despondent few minutes of seeing the beautiful in the banal and sad. You can see the video and hear the song here:

The new single is another entry to the genre that Parks has created in her bedroom: 'Sophie' is an inventive, delicate and moving statement from an artist who is full of stories about the emotional tolls and highs of being young in 2019.

As a self-confessed outsider who only understood her bisexuality by the age of seventeen, Parks is a natural in the genre of poetry and equipped with myriad experiences to pepper her verse with. The Sophie EP will arrive on 29 November, to be co-released by Transgressive and Beatnik.
