Going solo can be a daunting life decision. It's a risk wrapped up in potentially damaging insecurity. One is leaving a place of, mostly, creative affluence with the hope that the fans will follow and stay for the same reason they loved the original project in the first place. However, The Dunwells' Dave Hanson seems immune to this fear, in fact, he's embracing it in his new video for 'Blind Faith', check it out below.
Not to be confused with the retired Ice Hockey professional, this Dave Hanson was once the leas guitarist of the late noughties indie-pop band The Dunwells. After five years, Hanson has hung up his sharp treble-tones and opted for a warmer, more country-twanged sound. 'Blind Faith' is a wholesome departure from the indie scene with saloon piano twinkles and a swooping leitmotif of slide guitars.
Inspired by his American travels, Hanson fell deeply for the hearty people and fast-and-loose lifestyle of the middle states. He said of his adventures: "I seem to have a knack of getting myself into the most surreal and crazy situations, so I thought I would incorporate these themes into my songs!” Out of this exploration, Hanson has gone on to tour with Mumford & Sons as well as Sheryl Crow.
The video for 'Blind Faith' is a warm-sepia toned stroll through an idyllic park, rife in friends, sing-a-longs and domesticated animals. Escapism from the unforgiving Winter gloom has never looked this heavenly.
