Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' breaks record with 2 million UK streams

It might have missed out on Christmas No.1 to the X Factor, but we suspect Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' might just be the more enduring song - it's become the first track ever to be streamed 2 million times in a week in the UK.

The song, which features vocals from Bruno Mars, was rush-released last week after X Factor finalist Fleur East's cover of the song reached No.1 on iTunes. East subsequently apologised to Ronson for essentially stealing his song's thunder.

It seems this initial turbulence was just a minor setback for what is destined to be the new 'Get Lucky' (i.e. brilliant and horribly overplayed), as 'Uptown Funk' has become the first track ever in the UK to reach 2 million audio streams in one week.

For the first time this year, the Official Charts Company announced that streaming data from services such as Spotify, Deezer and Xbox Music contributed towards the Official Singles Chart.
