Ahead of the release of her debut album Running With Scissors, Northern Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin has premiered her cover of Death Cab For Cutie's 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' on Gigwise. Listen to it below.
If you're wracking your brain as to why that name rings so many bells, we'll help you out - Devlin was a contestant on The X Factor in 2011.
Rather than rush-releasing a record within six minutes of the show ending, lest everyone forgets who she is, Devlin has had the conviction to spend three years working on an album she's truly happy with. And it looks like it's paid off.
The time she's taken to develop her sound has led to an increased maturity in Devlin's distinctive voice - a maturity which is perfectly showcased in this minimalist cover.

Speaking to Gigwise of the cover, Devlin said: "'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' has always been a favourite song of mine and it's beautifully written. I think the band are underrated in the UK, so I like to expose them to my fans."
She added: "I like to share good music, and sometimes doing covers is a good way to get people to discover great bands/artists."
Devlin's new album includes tracks co-written with Newton Faulkner and Jack Savoretti, as well as a cover of The Cure's 'Friday I'm In Love', and is due for release on 9 June.
