Despite the band's chart success, Bullet for My Valentine guitarist Michael 'Padge' Paget doesn't have anything to fear from Justin Bieber.
Speaking to Gigwise, Padge says that even though the two are in the mainstream charts, he doesn't view Justin Bieber or One Direction as real threats.
Padge said, "I don't see popstars, like Justin Bieber, as competition. I see that kind of stuff in general as very different – the crossover point is very strange but I definitely don't see pop artists as competition."
However, he did acknowledge the competition from other bands, saying, "So much competition, but we definitely do our own thing.
"We came on the scene, from Wales, wearing eyeliner and painted fingernails and all that, we played hard and we toured hard - people just sort of got us straight away. I think that sets us apart; we're a genuine band that can actually play live and back it up with good songs."
Padge also spoke about the band's new album, Temper Temper, which was released earlier this week.
The guitarist said, "I think this record is a lot harder and angrier and a lot whackier. It's nice to do something slightly different to what we normally do."

He finished by adding, "We've changed quite a bit as a band since the first album – musician wise we've come along exceptionally well. Obviously at the start we didn't really know what we were doing but I think we've come along a hell of a lot, due to touring constantly all the time and playing instruments, you use all of that to get better.
"As people we've now got a lot more confidence - it's hard to explain, basically the more we see of each other, the less we see of each other in a weird way. We've just bonded as a group, one minute you're constantly together and the next minute you’re not, even though we've always lived near each other. We very rarely see other, which is kind of strange!"
