Liam Gallagher will reportedly continue fronting Oasis without his older brother Noel.

The younger sibling doesn't want to disband the legendary rock n' roll group despite main songwriter Noel quitting after a huge row in Paris last month.

A source told the News of the World: "(Liam has) decided that just because the guitarist has quit, it doesn't mean the band should collapse.

"He's been on holiday with bassist Andy Bell and both of them reckon they can keep going and create good music - even without Noel.

"Liam has been writing a lot and Andy has made a big contribution to the band."

If Liam does decide to continue he will be the only original member of the Manchester outfit.

  • He shouldn't......but it would be interesting! I guess promote Andy to lead guitar (After all Noel always said he was the best guitarist in the band). Bass, drums and Rhythm guitar.... your guess is as good as mine! Bonehead, Guigs and White maybe....... Gem will follow Noel in whatever he does, they are best mates so can't see Gem leaving his side.

  • Oasis isn't Oasis without Noel, after all he's the one that wrote all those classic songs when they were at their peak. If Liam carries onw without him it would be like an Oasis tribute band, imagine the band playing seminal tunes like Cigarettes and ALcohol without Noel on lead guitar it would be rubbish. If Liam and Andy want to carry on they should do so under a new name and start from scratch by forming a completely new band

  • I'd like to see how Oasis goes without Noel Gallagher. And how solo Noel is gonna be. So, I hope Noel and Oasis stay off and do their own thing. They both deserve a chance of their own. Liam has a very distinctive rock n roll voice and deserves to stay in the music business. I hope Oasis will now come up with rock lyrics and music that are simpler, catchier and basic rock stuff. That should be good, given that Liam would be the singer.

  • Oasis' songs, whether sang by Liam or Noel are better rock songs than 99.9% of the rubbish out there. Especially on the American charts. So, there is a place for both to make a dent. With the appeal of a "new" Oasis, the scum in the record industry may want to support a Liam led group, and a singer/songwriter-esque vibe for Noel(think David Gray/Dave Matthews fanbase). However, it's ultimately up to those in the business or if they want to promote a talentless Pussycat do

  • everyone knows Oasis is Noel, Liam, a drummer, a bassist and a guitarist. Their sound is gonna be very different now that Noel is gone. and not different in a good way. I was very sad to hear this - they were my favorite band. And what's even sader is that i'm guessing Noel's solo album will be good and so he won't have a reason to come back.
