Metronomy front-man Joe Mount introduced his new band to hundreds of festival-goers at The Great Escape in Brighton last night (Friday 15th May).
“You may have noticed something different,” said the prolific producer and songwriter, before naming the new members as bassist Gbenga Adelekan and drummer Anna Prior, who has played previously for Lightspeed Champion. Keyboardist and saxophonist Oscar Cash remains with the band.
The shake-up follows the amicable departure of Gabriel Stebbing, who left last month to concentrate on his other band project, Your Twenties.
The new quartet played a half-hour set of material from album ‘Nights Out’ to a packed Corn Exchange on the Brighton seafront. Revellers are braving bad weather to catch the likes of The Maccabees, Mumford & Sons, Kasabian and Black Lips at one of the city’s many gig venues this weekend.
So far Mystery Jets, Golden Silvers and The Big Pink have cancelled shows for unknown reasons.
Stay tuned to Gigwise for all the festival news from the coast!
