DJ Hero, a spin off of the hugely popular video game Guitar Hero, will be released this year, it's been announced.
The game, which has been rumoured since last year, will allow users to interact with an electronic turntable.
Bobby Kotick, CEO of developers Activision Blizzard, told CNBC people would be able to “play competitively and spin discs and mix songs”.
Last December, Dutch trance DJ Tiesto fuelled speculation about the game after he claimed he had teamed up with Activision to launch the project.
Guitar Hero, which allows gamers to play instruments interactively, has become a massive hit since it was first released in autumn 2005.
The three editions of the game have so far sold 14million copies - earning publishers RedOctane $1billion.
