Take That singer Gary Barlow is considering launching a rival show to The X Factor, it's been reported.
The singer is understood to have pitched the idea, which has the endorsement of his record label Universal, to the BBC.
The talent contest, which has yet to be given a name, would search for a new boy band.
“Gary is really keen to get into TV and has come up with a cracking idea. We’ve got high hopes for it,” a BBC source told the Sun newspaper.
“If it gets off the ground it could be something we do every year.”
Barlow has enjoyed renewed success since Take That announced their reunion at the end of 2005.
