Courtney Love has defended her decision to own and wear a fur coat.
Writing on her MySpace blog, Love called herself a “fur whore” – but sent an apology to the animal rights group PETA.
“My ancient Ermine - yep I’m a fur whore, if its 100 years old I’m ****ing into it,” Love wrote.
“Sorry PETA. I've been very, very good for a very, very long time, and this Ermine is ancient and tattered and feels like it belonged to a Queen.
"I know, I know. Maybe I'll just stare at it, but **** off if I wear it, I know what I'm doing."
The Ermine, which is also known as a short-tailed weasel, was once highly prized for its white fur.
PETA’s ongoing campaign against the use of animal fur in fashion has received high profile support from stars including Sir Paul McCartney and Leona Lewis.
The organisation recently slammed Kid Rock after he vowed to “go to war” over his decision to keep wearing animal fur.
Meanwhile, Gigwise’s exclusive story that Love’s widow’s – Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s - ashes were never stolen from her home in Los Angeles was named one of our Top News Stories of 2008.
