U2 frontman Bono will present Sir Paul McCartney with his Ultimate Legend honour at the MTV Europe Music Awards this evening (November 6th), according to reports.
The former Beatle, who is not expected to perform, will collect the prize in person in his hometown.
An unnamed source told the Mirror newspaper: “Channel chiefs have been in a massive quandary as to who to present the award to Liverpool’s most famous son.
“It is a first ever for MTV Europe to create a gong like this. It’s a one-off. Bono and him get on like a house on fire, and their presence will be the talk of the night.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, the broadcaster is presenting Sir Paul with the honour because of his remarkable “dedication to sharing his experience and nurturing the next generation of talented artists”.
Coldplay, Britney Spears and Duffy lead the nominations at this year's awards.
