A new My Bloody Valentine album may well be on its way, according to Kevin Shields and Colm O’Ciosoig.
Recording of a third album was reportedly put on hold due to a lack of funds and label support, but Shields revealed to Xfm that it may finally see the light of day.
He claims it would come out whenever he gets the chance to finish it.
“It was pretty much three quarters made in the 90s. We’ve got no label support so everything will be finished pretty much independently,” he said.
The band, who have just returned to the live circuit following a sixteen year hiatus, were at the Mojo Honours list 2008 after picking up the award for Classic Album for their 1991 effort ‘Loveless’.
O’Ciosoig spoke of the completion and release of a new album adding: “It’s a very real possibility. There’s some good stuff. Yeah, it’s just one of those things that had to be that way I guess.”
The band also commented on their reunion gig at London’s ICA on June 13, Shields said: “We were always gonna do it so we just did. We would’ve ideally done a record first and then done some gigs in ideal world but we’re not in an ideal world.”
My Bloody Valentine begin their hotly anticipated residency at Camden’s Roundhouse tonight (June 20) playing five nights before heading to Manchester Apollo on June 28.
