Gang Of Four have announced they are to release their first new material for 15 years.
After reforming to rerecord old material in 2005 the original line up found they enjoyed being back together so much recording new songs seemed natural.
Bassist Dave Allen tells Reuters, “We realised we had a lot of fun together - more than we thought we would.
“So far, (the new songs) aren't a huge departure from what we've done before. The biggest surprise is that we've been capable of getting back to our roots.
“A whole bunch that we've done sounds like 'Entertainment!'. It's more aggressive, more angular.”
However, Allen reveals drummer Hugo Burnham has not been playing on the sessions due to “a very personal issue that will be discussed at a later date," although he reports singer Jon King “is singing better than he ever did".
Allen adds that the new songs will probably first be made available on the internet.
"We might be releasing the first single or four songs for free on the Internet, or on vinyl, or both, and just see what the marketplace is like,“ he explains, adding, “We're trying to energize the base, and we know that we're dealing with an enormous group of new and younger fans."
