Isle Of Wight Festival 2017 is just around the corner - with a line-up that includes Arcade Fire doing a UK festival exclusive, RUN DMC, David Guetta, and Rod Stewart - and we have a pair of weekend tickets to give away.
Taking place 8 - 11 June at Seaclose Park, Newport - which is just a 20 minute boat ride from Southampton or Portsmouth - the festival is one of the most eclectic of the summer bringing together big and up-and-coming names from many genres.
In the words of organiser John Giddings: "To have the world’s first and most inspiring hip hop group (RUN DMC) headlining alongside one of the world's biggest electronic DJ’s is fantastic (Guetta)." Equally, having Arcade Fire's unique, boundary-breaking approach to indie rock blasting out to tens of thousands of people on a long summer night will be a set to remember.
Also Faces legend Rod Stewart is a fantastic addition that harks back to the festivals tradition of putting on colossal acts such as The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, and Paul McCartney.
Meanwhile, new acts – Catfish, Larsson, Clean Bandit, The Vamps, The Strypes, The Amazons, Germein Sisters, Judas, The Novatones and the Second Sons, – appears to mark a shift towards a younger generation. All have found success, either critical or commercial over the past three years: Larsson and Catfish have been lauded by NME and the BBC respectively, while Clean Bandit’s Jack Patterson was nominated for an Ivor Novello award for their 2014 No1 ‘Rather Be’.
