Former Keane frontman Tom Chaplin released his powerful first solo album on Friday. You can win a copy of it on vinyl by entering the competition below.
Its gently melodic verses giving way to arresting choruses are just as affecting as they are in Keane. The album as a hwole has an overarching sense of melancholy and there are some stark melancholic piano ballads such as ‘Worthless Words’ and ‘Hold Onto Our Love’.
Other parts of the album are more richly layered with interesting backing vocal arrangements, synths, guitars, brass, drums an violin coming together to create lush tracks that suggest the live shows coming up will be particularly engrossing. It shows Chaplin has really excelled as an arranger over the past few years.
We have two vinyl copies to give away. To be win one answer the following question by 6pm Wednesday 19 October (GMT).
In what year did Keane release their Brit award winning album Hopes and Fears?
Chaplin and his session band of multi instrumentalists who are able to switch what they play as the show goes on hit the road this month. Especially great will be the church shows, as they’ll give Chaplin’s emotive vocals the natural reverb to suit the melancholy. Check here for more ticket information.
