There isn’t anything more important than yourself. Do you agree with me? I am sure you do, that’s why you are reading this.
Now, people will talk about the negative impact of tech and the internet on our health (eye strain because of screens around us, and stuff like that), but I am contrary to that view.
As a health coach, I believe that technology can be super helpful, provided you know how to use it well.
And that is exactly what I will be talking about today. I will explore the best smart gadgets that can help you with self-care. Initially, I thought the same, that they were just a gimmick. But once I tried them, they were genuinely helpful, and I believe they will help you too.
If that sounds interesting and you need self-care, without further ado, let’s dive right into some of my top pics.
Smart Water Bottles
Do you exactly remember how much water you drink every day? I bet only a handful of people can answer this question.
With that said, hydrating your body is pretty important. I won’t be going into the debate of how much water your body needs because that would be a futile effort, since needs vary from one person to another. However, these can be solved just with a smart water bottle.
What exactly is it? It is basically a water bottle that’s like a caring nutritionist partner who keeps reminding you to hydrate yourself.
A smart bottle will have sensors on the cap, and it will be connected to your smartphone. Now, whenever you forget to drink water yourself, the sensors will detect the delay, and you will be reminded accordingly.
No more fussing about the amount of water because if you follow the reminders, you will have enough for the day.
So, yeah, get a smart water bottle. It will likely bring a positive change.
Smart Home Assistant
This is a wonderful smart device that indirectly helps with self-care and your daily errands as well. I intentionally mentioned your daily errands because that is an indirect part of your self-care. After all, when your stuff is sorted, you will feel light, and this is where a smart assistant helps.
I recently moved to Miami from New York (not a good decision, though, I miss New York). And since entertainment and the internet are highly important to me, I looked for TV and internet bundles in my area, and subscribed to one that suited my needs. Then, the first thing I did was set up my Apple HomePod in my new place because it is super convenient.
This was pretty easy, and I checked off one important thing from the list.
Similarly, it can be your personal assistant to remind you to take your medicine, go for a run, do yoga, and it can even play music to wind down after a long day at work.
There is so much more that you can do with a digital assistant, so I recommend getting one depending on the devices you already have. Go with HomePod if you use a MacBook or iPhone, or Google Nest if you are an Android or Windows user.
Air Purifier
It mainly depends on where you live, and if you already live in a town that doesn’t have much air pollution, you are better off skipping it altogether.
If you live in a polluted city, keep on reading.
This is one of the best devices that I keep with me, especially when I am traveling (because the town where I live is clean). When I go out, I wear a mask to filter out any dust particles and other harmful substances. And when I am staying in a hotel room, I keep it on all the time.
This helps a lot. You might not feel it, but in the long run, you will see that it has great benefits. Why?
Because we humans are not supposed to inhale all those harmful particles mixed with the air, and when they are, they cause all sorts of problems like triggering asthma, chest stiffness, and stuff like that.
So, yeah, keep one for your room.
Aroma Therapy Pen for Mood Management
This sure will sound like a gimmick, and it didn’t get my attention until I grabbed one from a colleague.
Let me explain what it is.
It is actually an aromatherapy that tailors the essential oils coming out of it according to your mood. If you are feeling low energy, natural eucalyptus will help. If you are facing sadness, lavender might alter it.
In this life, when it is too much to take on, you can take the help of this pen. It is lightweight and comes in a small form factor, making it a perfect partner for your daily routine.
I suggest trying it out before believing my words. I am sure you will love it.
Lastly, if you want to dive a little deeper into self-care as an interest, here is a subreddit from which I often take help. It might help you, too, so do check it out.
