Ahead of their follow up to debut album ‘The Loon’, Tapes ‘n Tapes bring single ‘Hang Them All’, a song that almost succeeds in living up to their reputation. Positives first, the rhythm section is spot on; the pulsing drums and funky bass keep your foot tapping throughout. Where this track is let down is a bit of a lack of musical invention, with little variation over its course, the melody never really taking off until the very end of the song, when the chorus finally kicks in. It’s a shame because ‘Hang Them All’ possesses a lot of the right ingredients for a good song – catchy rhythms and a good chorus included - they just don’t seem to be in the right order.
Released 31/03/08 on XL.
