It’s pretty fair to say that good old Debs can do no wrong in the eyes of many a music fan. Far be it from Gigwise to put a dampener on proceedings, but the new single by Debbie-slash-Deborah-slash-Debbie again thank you very much, sounds like a strange parody of Blondie. With vocals on the first verse sounding a dodgy impression of Marianne Faithful, it takes until the chorus for her characteristic New York vocal to really take off.
Above anything else though it’s a bit disturbing to see a 62 year old who looks more airbrush-perfect than your average 14 year old, sings about cheating on boys, and dresses the same way. Should Blondie finally grow up?
Released 10/09/07 on Eleven Seven Music
