The Scare don’t do things by halves, live they are nothing but exhilarating and on this their second UK release it is full steam ahead into angular post-rock oblivion. The ‘Vacuum Irony EP’ is their manifesto for future domination taking us through the band's key points of reference - AC/DC style unadulterated riffage, Jagger-esque posturing with a screamo edge from front man Kiss Reid, deaf defying razor blade chord changes ala At The Drive-in and sweat strewn sleaze at every twist of their whippet thin torso’s. ‘Cry Junkie (Out Of Look)’ and ‘Irony’ will turn the head's of the darker indie kids with it's tight around the corners staccato hooks while ‘If I’m Choking, Make A Scene’ will lessen Gerard Way’s fan club numbers by a fair few thousand from the first bars of its emo tinged theatrics. Things don’t quite reach the previous heights on ’Cigarettes And Birth Control’ and ‘Sand, Bones, Angels, Coins’ but there is no doubt that when the Aussie quintet put their minds to it they can’t half put together a spine-tingling three minutes better than My Chemical Fall Out At The Disco.
