Chicago based morose rockers Alkaline Trio release ‘Burn’ on the cusp of their UK tour, just to remind those few who don’t already own their painfully brilliant new album ‘Crimson’ that they are coming to town. A very easy pick for a single as its undemanding and easily accessible demeanour get the blood pumping without alienating the listener due to an intimidating back catalogue. Although ‘Burn’ may not be the fan favourite for a single release, it’s the powerful remixes that do this single justice and show that Alkaline trio knew what they were doing as this song becomes ever more poignant when the walls of sound are stripped down. The emo-electro-rockers ’65daysofstatic’ shine through with their stunning take, that is as haunting as it is beautiful and ‘Test Icicles’ stamp their atmospheric electronic mark on this release showing that they don’t just scream and arse about. ‘Burn’ is an easy inlet for new fans looking to get into Alkaline Trio, a catchy tune taken from a brilliant album.
