Fourteen years ago today (16 July), as the brand new millenium began to take its tentative first steps, Parachutes, the debut album by up-and-coming new band Coldplay, went to No.1 in the UK.
These days, with six UK No.1 albums under their belt (they're really going to have to loosen it soon), Coldplay are one of the most famous, revered, derided, and scrutinised band in the world. Back in 2000 though, they were just four promising, inexperienced young men who were fairly sure they were going to be one-hit wonders.
To celebrate a simpler time, and the anniversary of their first ever No.1 album, here is every track from Parachutes, ranked in order of greatness.
