Fourteen years ago today (16 July), as the brand new millenium began to take its tentative first steps, Parachutes, the debut album by up-and-coming new band Coldplay, went to No.1 in the UK.
These days, with six UK No.1 albums under their belt (they're really going to have to loosen it soon), Coldplay are one of the most famous, revered, derided, and scrutinised band in the world.
