FKA twigs: The artist formerly known as just "twigs" [that explains the FKA] made massive waves in 2013 with her indescribable Arca-produced debut, EP2, a compilation of dark, menacingly beautiful tracks that when paired with twigs' pure, delicate voice left devastating marks. One of the most unique and exciting artists out there.

FKA Twigs has discussed her image, stating that she doesn't care about looking beautiful, urging audiences instead to embrace her weird side.
Rising star Tahliah Barnett gave a rare to Vogue magazine about her music and her image, choosing to address the visceral portrayal of female sexuality in videos for her singles 'Papi Pacify' and 'Ultraviolet'. "I don't care about looking beautiful. Make me look weird; exaggerate me," she said, fittingly embracing the spirit found behind her music.

Barnett also chose to share the story behind her name, stating that it comes from her days as a ballerina and the fact she frequently ended up breaking her bones. "When I danced, my bones cracked. Somebody named me Twigs because I was always snapping like one," she said.
Also discussing her nomination in the BBC's Sound of 2014 poll she chose to make a refreshing comment amount not giving into the expectations of others. "People talk about compromising their artistry, but I just believe in the compromise of being a decent person," she said.
