Icona Pop score UK No.1 single - a year after 'I Love It' premiered

Swedish duo's international success hits UK

  • A*M*E: Ready to feel totally inferior to a teenager? We hope so, because 18 year old A*M*E has achieved more now than we probably ever will. She's already got a No 1 single - albeit in South Korea, although she's heading for the top of the UK charts - and she totally overshadowed both Jessie J and The Wanted when touring with them. Also look at her dress sense - why couldn't our teenage photos look like that?

Swedish duo Icona Pop have scored their first ever No.1 UK single - more than a year after their 'I Love It' track was first revealed online.

The pair have enjoyed a slow rise to success over the past year, with the Charli XCX-penned track taking root across Europe, but global success was secured in early 2013 with 'I Love It' was used in an episode of US drama Girls. The track was propelled to the American Top Ten and now Icona Pop have repeated the success in the UK.

The hi-energy pop anthem knocks Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' to No.2, with new entries from Will.i.am with 'Bang Bang' and The Wanted's 'Walks Like Rihanna' at No.4. Naughty Boy's former chart topper 'La La La' is at No.5.

Other new entries in the chart come from Chase & Status at No.15 with their new track 'Lost & Not Found', The Voice 2013 winner Andrew Begley with her version of 'My Immortal', Leeroy Kesiah at No.37 with 'Can't Get Enough', Kanye West at No.39 with 'Black Skinhead' and Evanescence with their original, 'My Immortal'.

In a quiet week for new albums, Empire Of The Sun enter at No.24 with their second release Ice On The Dune, Arctic Monkeys' debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not returns at No.32, Gabrielle Aplin's English Rain is back in the chart at No.36.
