Rolling Stones star Keith Richards has revealed he feels the band were 'destined' to perform at Glastonbury festival this weekend, ahead of their headline slot at Worthy Farm.

The rock legends are performing their first Glasto gig on Saturday night, when they close the second day of Glastonbury 2013 with a headline show on the Pyramid stage. In a new interview, Richards pays tribute to the festival, claiming it is a celebration of British heritage.

"It's almost as if we were finally destined to play Glastonbury," says Richards. "There were many years when we were offered it and turned in down, but I look on it as a culmination of British heritage. It had to be done. We'll see what happens."

Mick Jagger, has also revealed he plans to spend time with his family at the festival, after previously confirming that he will be camping at Glastonbury.

"All my kids will be there, so i'll be visiting them before the show," says Jagger. "They've got all sorts of activities set up for me to do."
