The Rolling Stones have delayed their US tour by a single day, due to the release of the NBA basketball tournament schedule.

The 50 & Counting tour was supposed to start on 2 May at the Staples Center in LA, but the NBA playoff schedule means that the Los Angeles Lakers will play the San Antonio Spurs at the venue that night instead.

The Rolling Stones will be performing at the Staples Center on 3 May, with the rest of the dates continuing as they were originally scheduled.

The band said in a statement, "The Rolling Stones will now kick off their 50 & Counting touring Los Angeles at STAPLES Center on Friday May 3. The original May 2 show was rescheduled due to the NBA Playoff schedule."

Mick Jagger also mentioned the rearranged schedule on his Twitter page, saying, "The first date of the tour has been confirmed for May 3! Can't wait to get back on stage & hopefully see you all. Rehearsals are going great."

Jagger also recently shot down plans for a new studio album, saying that fans at shows do not want to hear new music from the band, but rather all the classic hits.

Speaking to USA Today, he said, "It would be nice to have a new album, but people don't like the new album when you play it on stage. They glumly look at you. 'Okay, it will be over in a minute.' It's not a good excuse, but it's the truth and has to be said."
