Noel Gallagher offered £2m to become 'alpha male' judge on X factor

Simon Cowell approaches rocker once again

  • Noel Gallagher on 'middle class bands': "I'd talk to Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons thinking, 'I'll just do the fucking seven nights myself, what the fuck am I asking these people for?' and I got turned down a lot. Everybody says yes to your face. Everybody. And then the agent will call, and their management will call and then their PR will call and say, 'Ah, they're going to be in Australia at the time.' Really? Well they never said that to me. What's interesting is all the working class bands said yes straight off the bat, no f**king inkling of when it was."

Noel Gallagher has been approached to become the 'alpha male' judge on the next series of X Factor - and offered a £2million fee to join the show.

Noel has previously made it clear on more than one occasion that he is not a fan of the reality singing competition, but Simon Cowell is determined to have the Gallagher brother in a role on the show.

Cowell has even made a new offer to Noel's management company, Ignition, and has asked them to name any price around £2m for the star's participation in the show.

A source told The Sun, "Simon is determined to get Noel on board. He sees him as his natural replacement as the real alpha male on the panel. He thinks Noel would be ideal, with his music knowledge, straight-talking and rapier wit."

They added, "Noel’s daughter Anais is a huge fan of One Direction and X Factor, so she’ll be nagging him to say yes."

Noel previously spoke about an offer made to him in 2011, saying that he wouldn't be on the show because he'd hate to be made to say lines such as, "You know I can only take three into the final, and this is the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make. I left Oasis, but that was nothing to compared to this."

The High Flying Birds frontman also said that he thought the minimum age of 16 was too young, telling Absolute Radio, "Well I think it should be at least 18, because what would happen, conceivably, if the public voted a 16-year-old into pop stardom? I mean, you know.

"When they say things like 'Oh, you're great but you're too young' - well, don't put her through in the first place then, do you know what I mean? They shouldn't put a 16-year-old on that show."
