Ant & Dec set for first ever No.1 single with 'Lets Get Ready To Rhumble'

Is this music's most accidental comeback?

  • The Knife: Swedish electronic music duo The Knife are releasing their first album in over half a decade. Shaking the Habitual is set for spring 2013, and will feature Shannon Funchess of synth-pop duo Light Asylum. The new record will also be followed by a number of European tour dates.

Ant & Dec reached No.9 in 1994 with their 'Lets Get Ready To Rhumble', but after selling 35,000 copies this week, the TV hosts are now set to score the first No.1 single of their career 19 years later.

The duo are currently number one on the iTunes chart, but are also likely to get the top spot on the Official Charts - at least according to the midweek chart tally.

'Let's Get Ready to Rhumble' has currently sold 35,000 copies - and could push The Saturdays' first number one single 'What About Us' down to second place.

Martin Talbot, the managing director of the Official Charts Company, said, "Over the past few years, the download of 'Let's Get Ready To Rhumble' has been steadily selling around 100 copies a week. It is quite amazing how one TV performance can send those sales soaring."

Ant & Dec recently said that they will be donating the profits from the single to charity, and are 'bewildered' by the track's success.

Ant McPartlin told BBC Radio 2, "People are still buying the track, so we've just decided that any money we make out of it will be put towards Childline, as we're patrons of that."

Watch their performance on Saturday Night Takeaway below:

Blue members also spoke about the pair's surprise hit, labelling it 'f**king mental'. Speaking to Digital Spy at the Chortle Awards, Costa said, "I remember on Saturday night I went to Ant after the show, 'I bet you guys are Top 10 tomorrow', and he was like, 'Oh b*****ks, no way'.

"It was just amazing. I'm so pleased for them... people are buzzing. Its f**king mental."
