David Bowie will tour The Next Day, claims wife Iman

Wife states that Bowie will be touring, without her, despite previous claims that no gigs were planned

  • Metro - 4/5: "Bowie has always been comfortable with his own ch-ch-ch-changes; now he's taking in a changing world, too. He's a pop icon with no intention of being a period piece."

David Bowie may be set to announce a world tour, according to his supermodel wife, Iman.

Despite continual claims that the 'Where Are We Now' star will not tour in support of his new album, The Next Day, Iman has spoken of the iconic star's travel plans, revealing she and the couple's 12-year-old daughter Alexandra will not be able to join him on his 2013 jaunts.

"We have a 12 year old in school, so we are stuck, we can't travel," Iman tells Grazia magazine. "Our schedule is around her, so I don't know. We'll have to go visit him, but we won't be on tour with him because she's in school."

Iman also reveals her love for Bowie's new album and the secrecy under which the record was kept.

"Everyone asks, 'How did he keep it so quiet?' But they were loyal to his vision and he asked, could they just keep it under wraps til it was released?" She added. "They were just happy he was working on something and it's just great to hear him."

Iman is certainly more positive about Bowie's comeback than his former wife Angie, who described his comeback track 'Where Are We Now' as 'awful'.

Speaking about Bowie's comeback, Angie told The Sun, "I listened to the first single (Where Are We Now?) and it was just awful, just diabolical. The second one was worse than that.

"This is supposed to be the greatest comeback of the century? It’s boring. I think every release since the first eight albums has been rubbish."

She also spoke about the video for 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight)', and believes that Tilda Swinton's character is based on her.

"I watched 30 seconds and couldn’t cope with any more," Angie said. "The subject matter is too retrospective. I am pleased he got out of his house in New York and recorded an album. But why has he been sitting in his house for ten years anyway?"
