Mel B, Tulisa and more - when roles on reality TV backfire badly

Jo S Club, Cheryl: who should have stayed away?

  • Nicole Scherzinger made 13 year old X Factor US contestant Rachel Crow cry live on TV. Scherzinger made the decision to take the vote to deadlock, which meant that Crow was eliminated. When Crow heard the results, she collapsed on the stage and started sobbing hysterically - leading Scherzinger to start crying herself.

Mel B was booed this week at America's Got Talent auditions, and all she did was say the dreaded words "I don't generally like brass bands," to a group of contestants - who happened to be the city's favourite brass band.

As far as disastrous reality TV choices go, though, Mel B's is far from the worst (although it was only her first day - she could surprise us yet). After all, who could forget Tulisa's stint as a judge on The X Factor which sent the trajectory of her career to an all time low, even as her act Little Mix managed to win the show.

In fact, appearances on reality TV shows seem to be death knells for stars' careers, instead of the revival they hope for. Cheryl Cole only made it three weeks into her US X Factor appearance before she was fired, and Nicole Scherzinger accidentally made a teenage girl cry live on TV.

So which other stars should have stayed far away from the cameras? Look through our gallery to find out...
