Adele fans are eagerly awaiting new music from the UK soul star, but the Oscar winner has confessed that she currently has nothing to sing about.

The star's second album 21 is the biggest selling album of 2011 and 2012, but the wait for a third is set to be a long one as the Londoner waits for inspiration to strike.

The singer was speaking to The Daily Mail, who pushed the star on when fans might hear new material, and she stated that she was as keen to get working as they are to hear it. "Tell me about it, so am I. They'll come when they're ready, and when I've got something to sing about."

Adele has previously spoken of her plans to take a break before recording her next album, having recently given birth to her first son, Angelo. She has recently been scooping awards at the major ceremonies, having recently won an Oscar for her James Bond theme tune, 'Skyfall'.

Hopefully Adele's next album won't be about winning awards

Adele certainly doesn't need to record and release any time soon, as she is still making a tidy living from 21.

The singer's album was released in 2011, but still managed to sell 8.3 million units last year. Coming in second was Taylor Swift with Red, which sold 5.2 million - 3.1 million less than Adele.

Below: the making of an icon - how Adele changed from 2008 to the Oscars 2013
