Adele digs at BRIT bosses in 2013 acceptance speech

'I won't keep you too long' singer jokes

Adele obviously hasn't quite forgiven BRIT Awards bosses for cutting off her acceptance speech last year, using this year's acceptance speech as a chance to swipe at the organisers.

Last night (February 20) the award-winning singer accepted her gong for best single for 'Skyfall' via video link from Los Angeles, where she is rehearsing for her performance at the Oscars.

"I won't keep you too long because I don't want to interrupt the speech at the end of the night," Adele said.

Last year her acceptance speech for Best British Album was cut short by James Corden when the host was told he had to hurry up and introduce Blur.

Adele famously then gave the organisers a one-fingered salute as she left the podium.

Following the taped acceptance this year Corden joked, "Has she definitely finished? She didn't say anything else? Have you checked the tape?"

Corden recently spoke about how furious he was to have been put in that position, and said the BRITs hadn't thought about contingency plans should the awards run over.

Awards chairman David Joseph also recently admitted that they'd made a mistake by cutting Adele off and that there wouldn't be a repeat this year.

"How can you take an artist who has made the bigegst cultural impact musically this country has seen globally for some time and cut her off in the middle of her speech?"

"I very much to this day question what was happening in that control booth."

Adele is due to perform at next weekend's Oscars ceremony and is said to be suffering from stage fright ahead of the event.

The singer has reportedly seen a hypnotherapist about the issue and has been counselled by Robbie Williams and Elton John about getting over her worries.

Elton John has also been offering words of wisdom about the star's consideration of taking up a residency in Las Vegas.
