Eric Clapton's latest studio album Old Sock is set to be released in March and the rather ordinary record cover has inspired us to think of some of the cheapest-looking albums covers around.

Of course, there are hundreds of these but we have selected those tacky album sleeves from artists that should have known better and whose wallets probably could have stretched a bit further.

Even David Bowie couldn't escape this list as it looks as though he will be re-using an old cover for his forthcoming record, The Next Day. Others have tried to keep things a little too simple and forgotten just how important album art can be.
