Duncan Jones, the movie director son of David Bowie, has been named as the man responsible for directing the movie adaptation of video game, World Of Warcraft.

The hopes and dreams of a million online video gamers lie in the hands of the man formerly known as Zowie Bowie. He is also responsible for critically acclaimed hits Moon, starring Sam Rockwell, and Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

"We are pleased to announce that Duncan Jones, director of critically-acclaimed films Source Code and Moon, has signed on with Legendary Pictures to direct the upcoming live-action film based on the Warcraft universe," says an official statement from Blizzard Entertainment, the company who make the hames.

Movie adaptations of video games have yet to yield a decent film, but Jones hopes he can buck this trend, telling followers on Twitter: "So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper movie of a video game? I've always said it's possible. Got to do it now!"

World Of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that has attracted 10 million since its launch in 2004. The game features a huge fantasy world in which players can team up to fight monsters, explore the expansive land or go to war among themselves.
