Last year gave us a bevy of pop disasters, ranging from a shocking video from Britney and Will.i.am to the embarrassing flop that was Tulisa's solo album.
But 2013 is looking quite promising in terms of pop. There are some new arrivals that we expect great things from, and some returning legends that we'll all be happy to see in the charts again.
Both in the UK and the US there are big album releases and tours planned which will surely be highlights of the year come December (provided nothing goes wrong, as it probably will).
Here's Gigwise counts down 13 of the most exciting things about pop music in the next 12 months, including the return of Destiny's Child, Justin Timberlake and the reunited original Sugarbabes (although they've surrendered the name)...
