Olly Murs doesn't agree with expensive VIP concert packages, saying that fans shouldn't have to spend a lot of money to get close to their favourite stars.

The past few years have seen a rise in celebrities offering more expensive deals for fans, allowing them to get meet and greets and entry to soundchecks if they pay more.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Olly Murs says that this is something he has no plans to do, as he'd rather offer fans the opportunities through a competition, without giving priority to people who can afford to spend more money.

He said, "I don't agree in all these really expensive meet-and-greets - like paying more money to get closer to the fans. You should treat everyone equally.

"Whenever I've done tours, I don't do special VIP tickets for £500 to meet me. We do competitions and stuff for charities, and we do stuff for my fans. We put stuff out there that fans can win tickets to see me backstage."

The Rolling Stones charged £950 for their VIP hospitality packages

Murs added, "For all the performances I've done, I haven't had a section of fans come to a sound check to see me perform and pay extra for that. I just wouldn't want my fans to spend that kind of money to see me sound check.

"Of course fans want to meet you backstage and have a conversation - that's great. But I think for how much it costs - it's so expensive for other artists - for a 30-second chat, is it really worth the money?"
